In this presentation, Chris Livingston will discuss the history of lead and lead based paint with a specific look at lead poisoning in children. Then we will look at the new regulations with respect to renovations in homes with lead based paint. We will also look at lead testing and screening as well. This class also covers the reasons for the law and various impacts of the law, on homeowners and sellers as it pertains to wood stoves. Chris will discuss what categories of wood-burning appliances are affected and how to tell if a particular appliance is affected. He will cover the responsibilities of the parties involved when a home with an uncertified wood stove is sold, including documentation and proper disposal procedures.

- About blood lead levels
- About lead in paint and how lead gets into children
- The signs and symptoms of lead poisoning in children
- Learn the background to the new EPA ruling on home renovations
