The Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is a way to stand out to prospective homebuyers and sellers as a REALTOR® who has gained in-depth knowledge on technical subjects as well as the fundamentals of real estate. In today's competitive business environment, it often takes more than just motivation and initiative to succeed.

The Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) symbol is the mark of a real estate professional that has made the commitment to provide a high level of professional services by securing a strong educational foundation.

New technology, laws, procedures and the increasing sophistication of buyers and sellers requires real estate practitioners to perform at an ever-increasing level of professionalism.

The GRI designation is a powerful tool to attract and build new business. You'll increase your skill level across the entire landscape of real estate with in-depth training in legal and regulatory issues, technology, professional standards, and the sales process.

 

If you are just starting out...

Then you are in luck! We are debuting our brand-new GRI program. There will be a new format, courses, instructors, and more. No more 4-day classes; now we are offering 3 and 6 hour classes all over the state. Earn the GRI on your own time and at a local convenient location. 

To earn the GRI, you must take 60 hours of approved GRI content. You can take any combination of our core courses to meet your first 30 hours and then more core courses OR approved designations and certificates. You can essentially walk out with the GRI, 60 hours of CE credit, and a couple other designations/certificates! Talk about triple dipping.

How it Works+

In 2014, NAR passed new GRI guidelines. To earn the GRI designation, you now only need 60 hours of approved GRI content – 30 hours of approved core courses and 30 “elective” hours which can be earned from previously earned designations, new designations, the Oregon Leadership Academy, etc. We’ve developed the program to reflect the changes to the guidelines and also the changes to the real estate industry. Now you can earn the GRI on your own time, at your own pace, via individual, bite-sized courses.

 

We offer 13 approved core courses that count for both GRI and CE credit. We are partnering with local associations/boards acorss the state to bring these courses to a classroom near you. Let your local association/board know that you'd like to see a GRI course offered in your area today!

 

Within a week of taking a course, you will receive an email with more information on the GRI (including the graduation application) and instructions to view your CE certificate. 

Tracking Your GRI Credit+

You are responsible for keeping track of how many GRI hours you have completed. All of our core courses are valid for either 3 or 6 hours of GRI credit. The amount will be stated on the registration form and CE certificate, as well as added to the Core Courses webpage. You are welcome to keep track of your GRI course hours on the GRI Graduation Application. 

Applying for GRI Graduation+

  1. Complete 30 hours of GRI Core Courses. 
  2. Complete 30 additional hours of GRI content - more GRI Core Course or Equivalency Credit. 
  3. Register for GRI Graduation online ($20) & submit your completed GRI Graduation Application with all required documentation to the OAR Education Department.
  4. OAR will verify your application and notify you of your GRI status within 2 weeks.
