Caralee Angell, West Linn

Caralee is local to Portland and grew up on the south side of town in West Linn. Caralee is principal broker at Stellar Realty Northwest and combines her love of sales with real estate and teaching! This combination led to teaching real estate for the Oregon Association of REALTORS®, as Caralee chose the opportunity to become an OAR instructor, and didn’t look back. In her spare time, Caralee enjoys reading historical novels, training MMA, and teaching German.

Rod Barker+

Rod Barker, Corbett

Rodney Barker has a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Oregon School of Law with emphasis in Business Law, Criminal Law, and Family Law. Mr. Barker has a Bachelor of Arts from Portland State University and holds degrees in Business Administration, Business Finance, and Business Management. Other educational areas of interest include State of Oregon Certified Mediator and Distance Learning Teaching Academy Graduate of MHCC.


Mr. Barker is a licensed Broker and Attorney and is currently Dean of Business and Social Science at Mt. Hood C.C. Additionally, Mr. Barker has 15 years of management experience. Teaching/Advising is one of Mr. Barker's passions, and he has taught at Portland State University since 2003, Eastern Oregon University, Portland Community College, and Mt. Hood Community College where he was the director of a two-year degree program “Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management."


Growing up Rodney’s parents owned a small business, Marshall’s Donuts, for 19-years. With all the family working in the business it was a natural fit for Rodney to work in the family business. The valuable experiences learned from working in a small business never left him, and now Rodney owns several small businesses including: Mustard Seed Publishing, LLC, Blinking Barracuda Property Management, LLC, Bar Exam Essentials, LLC, and Mt Hood Realty, LLC.


Helping people either sell or buy a home or business is a passion, and teaching/advising for real estate is his love.

Jo Becker+

Jo Becker, Oregon City

A former Oregon REALTOR®, Jo was licensed for 8 years and served on PMAR's Board of Directors. For 10 years, she worked for the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, a nonprofit committed to civil rights in housing where she has trained over 10K individuals to consistently rave reviews. Her focus there was on housing providers such as REALTORS®, property managers, private landlords, etc. Jo has also studied animals and emergency preparedness since 2005. Today her career consists of an unexpected alchemy of public speaking and writing for everyone from the housing industry and utility companies to professional and volunteer disaster responders on topics ranging from critter body language and animals-in-disaster to on-the-job safety and fair housing law. Jo's themes center on overcoming fears and maintaining safety, be it personal or professional security, unfamiliar critters, or unexpected catastrophes.

Adam has been a REALTOR® since 2003, and has spent his career keeping on top of trends in the real estate market. Adam has his GRI designation from early in his career and CRS designation since 2007. As a president of CRS Oregon, education has been a priority for Adam and he looks forward to sharing that with his students. Past President of Southern Oregon MLS, and a long time contributor to the Oregon Association of REALTORS® on the board and on key committees, Adam is a working successful Broker in the trenches and brings that perspective to the classroom.

Carolyn Bostwick, a well seasoned REALTOR®, throughout her career alternates between working as a principal broker, managing and training brokers in her office to working as an agent in the field. Reviewing broker contracts and counseling for high performance and risk reduction techniques adds value to her experience. In the field experience with residential and small acreage properties, new homes and multifamily brings depth of knowledge and experience she loves to share with her fellow REALTORS®.

Service to her association of REALTORS®, always a high priority, adds the dimension gained by serving on the Professional Standards committee as member, chair and mediator. Barbara Canaday+

Barbara Canaday, Oregon City

Barb Canaday (Realtor, ePro) is a Principal Real Estate Broker with 24 years industry experience, and has been a Platinum member of the Million Dollar Club and the RE/MAX Executive Club. Barb is the Managing Principal Broker and Senior Portfolio Manager for Relay Resources, a nonprofit provider of housing, education and jobs for the disabled and others facing barriers to employment in the Portland, Oregon area.


Barb graduated cum laude from the University of Portland with a BA in Communications and minors in Marketing and Management, completing a 4-year degree in 3 years while spending one of those years studying abroad. Barb was a National Merit Scholar semifinalist, received Honors at Entrance to the University’s Honors College, and was an Oregon Scholar. As a youth, Barb was an internationally ranked Equestrienne who was offered a junior position on the US Equestrian team in Colorado Springs, Colorado in preparation for the 1984 Olympics. Injuries ended her career.


Barb has volunteered in youth sports for 16 years as a coach, team mom, referee coordinator and athletic director. Barb and her husband have been married for 30 years. The Canaday’s have three children, a well-loved golden retriever and his equally loved cat.

Active in her local and state associations, has served in the past as a board member, and she stays current on trends, legal matters and governmental affairs affecting homeownership and the real estate industry. Jason Deming+

Jason Deming, Forest Grove

My name is Jason Deming.  I was born and raised in Eastern Oregon.  I moved out to the Valley to attend Oregon State University where I completed degrees in Exercise & Sport Science as well as Psychology and was a college athlete.  I started my career as a personal trainer in the fitness industry specializing in athletic performance.  From there, I went on to George Fox University and complete my Masters in Education.  I taught in the Portland metro for 9 years.  While working as a national full cycle executive recruiter, I completed another degree in Business with Pacific University and then made my transition into Real Estate full time in 2011.  I started with Century 21, quickly advanced into management and trained new incoming agents.  In 2016, I opened my own Brokerage Deming’s Open Doors Realty.  My passion for educating others and offering them tools to use for success in whatever endeavor has always been a driving force and ultimately led me to apply to become part of the OAR instruction team.  On a personal note, I’m married, have 3 kids and 2 grandkids.  When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time on the golf course and I bowl competitively.

Sheryll Fong+

Sheryll Fong, Beaverton

Sheryll Fong has been the Managing Principal Broker for Keller Williams Sunset Corridor in Beaverton Oregon for over 5 years. She's been a Realtor for 33 years. During those years, teaching has been a fundamental part of her position as Broker and then as Principal Broker. Throughout her career, Sheryll has taught many new agent introduction classes, including Ignite classes and before that the Jumpstart classes from her previous brokerage. She has earned the GRI and CRIS designations. 

Teaching and mentoring are important parts of Sheryll's career, and she has built many classes and masterminds for agents around these. In addition, she also teaches contracts and compliance in depth. She is also qualified to teach the Code of Ethics and LARRC.

Sheryll enjoys spending time with her husband and their grown sons and daughter and their children.  She and her husband run a dance organization called CCMfriends which has two social dances each month. She also likes acrylic painting, travel and walking.

Pam was the recipient of the “Women of Excellence” Business Woman of the Year award for the State of Oregon. She holds 5 Toastmaster Designations as an Advanced Competent Communicator and Leader. She is one of the Oregon Association of REALTORS® Certified Instructors and approved with Superior Schools to provide CE credits and quality education to REALTORS®.

With nearly two decades in the mortgage industry; a "student for life" attitude toward Real Estate Finance,  I've begun developing content and leading webinars for a NMLS Mortgage Education Course Provider, I am honored to be entering my 2nd year as a member of the GRI Instructor Team at the OAR.

A two sport athlete at Western Maryland College with over 17 years of professional public speaking experience, I prepare for my GRI classes the same way I did for games in college, as well as for the nearly 200 live training workshops I've successfully delivered around the country since 2002. Also certified to instruct CE for Realtors in WA, I enjoy the same excitement of teamwork, engagement, and the gratitude of helping our students continue their paths to increased knowledge, production, and value as trusted advisors.

Donna Jo "DJ" Merrifield+

Donna Jo Merrifield is a Managing Principal Broker for Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers in Albany and Corvallis, OR. She joined Valley Brokers in 1993 and became licensed in 1998 and received her Associate Broker's license in 2001, right before Oregon went to single licensing. She has earned the ABR, CRB and GRI designations. Donna Jo is a Local Director for Willamette Association of REALTORS® and Education Chair, past Treasurer and President for the Willamette Valley Women's Council of REALTORS® and currently volunteers on the Oregon Association of REALTORS® Business Issues Key Committee. She was the 2011 REALTOR® of the Year for the Willamette Association of REALTORS®.

In addition to managing, she is also the company trainer for Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers. Within her company, she's responsible for teaching the New Broker Training Series and Continuing Education including the LARRC course and coaching. She also takes great pride in teaching pre-licensing courses for Superior Training, Inc. at Linn-Benton Community College and sometimes at Lane Community College.

DJ has two grown daughters and a step-son and is happily married and has two goofy pugs. In her spare time, she enjoys wine tasting, boating, dancing and is really trying to "love" half marathons and crossfit.

I am managing principal broker and co-owner of Oregon Bay Properties, LLC located in North Bend on the southern Oregon coast in Coos County. I joined the real estate industry in 2006 and in 2010, my husband and I opened Oregon Bay Properties, LLC.   My business focuses on residential properties, bare land, and farms and ranches and I have earned a CRS designation. Oregon Bay Properties, LLC also handles commercial & industrial sales and residential & commercial property management, which has broadened the scope of my experience.


My entire career has been in sales including retail sales and management in New York City, software sales in the San Francisco Bay Area and wholesale fashion sales and logistics in Los Angeles. Real estate has been the perfect addition to my sales career.
