Oregon Real Estate Advertising Rules
Oregon real estate advertising rules are governed by the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR). These rules outline what brokers, principal brokers, and property managers must include in advertising and how real estate services may be represented to the public.
Key Advertising Requirements
- Advertising must be truthful and not deceptive.
- Licensees are responsible for their own advertising compliance.
- A licensee may not imply responsibility for a business unless they are the authorized licensee for that registered business.
- Social media posts must clearly connect to a profile or webpage that includes the required license and business information.
- Licensees may register and use one approved alternative name (subject to Oregon Real Estate Agency requirements).
Alternative Names
Alternative names must:
- Include at least one first and one last name
- Be registered with the Oregon Real Estate Agency
- Not be misleading or duplicative
- Include the license number when used in advertising
You can apply for an alternative name through your OREA eLicense account.
