With a background as unique as it is inspiring, Rakesh Thomas entered the real estate profession in December 2023 and has quickly built a career rooted in service, communication, and genuine connection. A proud member of the Portland Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® (PMAR) and a broker with Opt Real Estate in Lake Oswego, he brings just under two years of experience, but a lifetime of relationship-building, to the industry.
Before real estate, Rakesh spent more than 15 years as a radio DJ in Dubai, hosting a classic hits breakfast show and connecting with audiences from all walks of life. That chapter sharpened his skills in storytelling, listening, and building trust, skills that now define the way he supports clients, whether they’re first-time buyers, investors, or managing multimillion-dollar transactions. His ability to communicate clearly and authentically is at the heart of his business and fuels his passion for serving families and communities.
Dedicated to professional growth and industry involvement, Rakesh serves on the 2025 YPN Advisory Board, is a member of the Oregon Leadership Academy Class of 2025, actively participates in the AREAA Portland Chapter, and is recognized in PMAR’s prestigious Circle of Excellence. He has earned both the ABR® and CIPS® designations and brings an innovative marketing advantage as a licensed drone pilot, offering clients high-quality aerial photography and videography.

Outside of real estate, Rakesh is a devoted husband and father of two young girls. He enjoys cooking and experimenting with new cuisines, traveling, having explored more than 30 countries, volunteering at community events, and diving into technology and photography. These passions keep him energized and deeply connected to the world around him.
Looking ahead, Rakesh has an ambitious vision: to bridge real estate opportunities between Oregon, the broader United States, and global markets such as Dubai, where he spent most of his life. He believes Oregon is ready for the world—and he intends to help lead that connection. On a personal note, he hopes to continue traveling with his family and give his daughters the chance to experience the world the way he has.
In his first year alone, Rakesh supported clients with over $8 million in sales, earned 100% five-star reviews, received PMAR’s 2024 Rising Star Award, and was honored again in the Circle of Excellence.
