Legislation passes to protect the safety and security of real estate transactions

| March 3, 2022

Salem, OR – Oregon REALTORS® wants to thank the Oregon Legislature for supporting an important piece of consumer protection legislation, House Bill 4103.

HB 4103 increases the fine for conducting unlicensed real estate business in Oregon. Currently, the fine for unlicensed real estate activity is just $100. The danger to consumers is that out-of-state real estate professionals could do business here without the proper training or knowledge of laws in Oregon that help keep the home buying and selling process fair, legal, and equitable.

Oregon REALTORS® member and State Rep. Vikki Breese-Iverson was one of the chief sponsors that worked to successfully pass the bill that will better protect Oregon consumers throughout the home buying and selling process.
