Do You Need to Adjust your Contracts? Juneteenth Observed Friday, 6/18

| June 22, 2021

JuneteenthOn June 17th, President Biden signed into law a bill recognizing Juneteenth National Independence Day as a Federal holiday and the law took effect immediately.

Because Juneteenth would fall on a Saturday (6/19) this year, it was observed on Friday (6/18).

Under the OREF Sale Agreement, Federal and Oregon holidays are not business days. REALTORS® with deals underway should talk with their clients about how this affects the timelines in their contracts and parties should amend their contracts, if necessary, to account for the lost business day.

The Oregon REALTORS® office closed at noon on 6/18 in observance.
