HOME Foundation

The Oregon REALTORS® HOME Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity that provides financial resources to create, expand, and encourage homeownership opportunities for Oregonians at or below local median income. Despite their best efforts, far too many people in today’s workforce simply can’t afford the American Dream of homeownership. We understand that homes stabilize families, and we want to help make that achievable for more Oregonians.

Since 2004, the HOME Foundation has been collaborating with organizations intent on helping Oregonians achieve homeownership. We have supported efforts to provide financial resources to create, expand and encourage homeownership opportunities. To date, we have distributed more than $2,000,000 in grants statewide!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your contributions provide essential funds to organizations dedicated to affordable housing in Oregon. HOME Foundation funds have been utilized to:

  • Educate consumers about affordable housing issues
  • Provide the tools needed to make homeownership more attainable
  • Address both immediate and long-term needs through strong public/private partnerships
  • Give more Oregonians the opportunity to make a lasting investment in local communities

Fundraising occurs year-round with annual events such as the Driving It HOME Golf Tournament, Dessert auction, HOME for the Holidays, and Stand Up for HOMES comedy competition. Events held in local communities raise money that stays right in the local community.

Here are just a few of the past grant recipients:

ACCESS • African American Alliance for Homeownership • Community Energy Project • First Story • Habitat for Humanity • NeighborImpact • NeighborWorks • Neighborhood Economic Development • Portland Housing Center • Proud Ground • Rebuilding Together Portland

2020 HOME Foundation and Wildfire ReliefRead More

In 2020, the HOME Foundation Board approved expanding grants to include Oregonians who were affected by wildfires. A safe and socially distanced version of the annual golf tournament, Driving it HOME, was held on October 1, raising more than $60,000 for the HOME Foundation and Wildfire relief. Golfers and sponsors alike enjoyed a fun day of connection at a much-needed, live event. Thanks to funds raised by local communities, generous donations from REALTOR® associations around the country, and the fundraising efforts of the Oregon Leadership Academy, the HOME Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund gifted nearly $400,000 in grants to fire victims around Oregon.

Thanks to the generous support of the HOME Foundation we have been able to assist dozens of families to make the leap into home ownership. NeighborWorks is committed to developing and  supporting first-time home buyers and current homeowners find success in home ownership.

"Homeownership would have been impossible without NeigborWorks Umpqua! Last year I became a widow with three kids and caring for an elderly parent. The only way to keep my home was to purchase it. I am definitely low income and I was worried that homeownership might be out of my reach. But, with the help of Olympia Church and other staff members I was able to get a USDA direct, rural development loan. Thank you so much! I could not have done this without your help!" Christina Engelson, Coos County

“NeighborWorks helped me achieve my life long goal of owning a home. They are giving me and my children a new start on life of stability and success. They helped me leap and see a goals I never thought possible. Thank you NeighborWorks Umpqua." Amy Miele, Douglas County

“NeighborWorks Umpqua has helped change my en????re life! They made one of the biggest milestones in my life possible and helped with the purchase of a new home! The staff have been amazing and have made the en????re journey enjoyable!!!" Charles Rambeau, Douglas County

Meet the Edwards Family

“When I had to start my life over again ten years ago I thought I would never own a home again. Look at me now! With the help of this grant, I have a huge sense of accomplishment along with a more secure future for my daughter. THANK YOU!!!”

“Getting the RVAR Grant has meant so much to us. We can now start a family in our home and have a place to grow old. Thank you for this life changing experience."

“We are so thankful for this first-time home buyer grant, our REALTOR®, Access and Mortgage broker for making this a seamless process and a dream come true for us.”

Here are some photos of the Sisters Habitat for Humanity home that was the recipient of the Oregon Association of REALTORS® 2017 Home Foundation grant.  The home is still under construction and will be completed in November.

“Here are pictures showing how we are using the generous grant you awarded to Mac Habitat in December.  We have used the funds from you and YCAR for our 2018 Women Build project, where local women (and some men) are coming together to build and raise funds for a home for a single mom and her two children.”  Mary P. Stern, Executive Director, McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity.
